Preschool Creative Dance (ages 3-5)
This class is intended to provide children with a fun-filled introduction to the study of dance. Children will learn basic feet and body positions while being encouraged to move creatively to popular children's music, in an atmosphere that promotes self-esteem and pride in their achievements.
Beginner Dance Combo (ages 5-7)
This class is an hour long combination of Ballet, Tap and Jazz.
Ballet (ages 5+)
Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced
All ballet students are taught the proper ballet fundamentals necessary for a solid foundation in dance. Correct ballet terminology is always stressed. Students progressing to the more advanced levels will receive preparation for professional dance life.
A student may begin pointe after it has been determined that she has mastered proper body alignment,and possesses the necessary physical and mental strength required to begin this level of ballet training.
Jazz (ages 6+)
Students will develop flexibility and strength while learning various jazz jumps, turns, and combinations to popular music. Elements of Hip-Hop are taught to prepare students for this popular new dance style.
Lyrical (ages 6+)
Lyrical dance is an expressive form of dance incorporating ballet, jazz and modern. It is generally interpretive of the lyrics of pop-music ballads. Completion of Beginner Ballet is suggested.
Tap (ages 6+)
Students will sound out musical rhythms with the feet and learn to make quick changes of weight and direction.
This is the style of dance seen in pop-music videos and is taught by professional Hip-Hop dancers.
Dance Companies (ages 9+)
The Yardley Youth Ballet Company and the Jazz Performance Company are in-house companies that were created to give serious dance students a wider range of performance opportunities. Membership is open to students age nine and older and is by audition only. Company members receive substantial multiple class discounts.
Ballet Body Shaping
This program was specially designed by Miss Melissa utilizing the principles of classical ballet training to create a unique exercise program geared toward evenly shaping the body. An assortment of popular and classical music is used to create an experience that is more than just a "work-out."
